Enoch George Williams

Enoch George Williams (born July 23, 1835; died December 12, 1909), a doctor. Married first to Sallie Hetter of Louisville, Kentucky (daughter of Joseph Warren Hetter); they had two children. Married second to Gurtrude Elizabeth Chism (died 1883, daughter of Tolbert Thomas Chism and Mary A. Howard); they had four children. Married third to Mrs. Laura Ackland (born 1840; died July 22, 1920; widow of James Ackland); no children.


Descendants of Enoch George Williams

Enoch George Williams and his first wife Sallie Hetter had two children:

  1. Fannie Williams (died at age 2-1/2)
  2. Josie Williams (born November 3, 1868; died October 8, 1953). Married December 18, 1891 to James Newton Spence (born September 22, 1867; died July 2, 1950). Josie and James are buried in May, Texas.

    Josie Williams and James Newton Spence had seven children:

    1. Pearl Spence (born March 26, 1893; died June 12, 1917). Married to Earl Burns. No children.
    2. Henry G. Spence (born April 2, 1895; died in Long Beach, California). Married August 18, 1920 to Lola Sides. Four children: Mary Jo, Louise, George H., Colleen.
    3. John Spence (born May 31, 1898; died November 6, 1954). Married to Kathleen Porter of Brownwood, Texas. One child: Dr. Allen J. Spence.
    4. Jannie Spence (born July 18, 1899). Married December 25, 1923 to Thomas Allison (died April 1960). Seven children: Mildred, Norman, Clyde, Shirley, Birdie, Garland, Jerry Lynn.
    5. Mary Jo Spence (born September 30, 1901). Married December 6, 1940 to W. L. Wood. No children.
    6. Jimmie Spence (born February 17, 1904; died June 26, 1969 in Nocona, Texas). Married April 25, 1924 to Melvin Wright. Two children: Marianne, Frances.
    7. Sam Hawley Spence (born May 22, 1906). Married May 29, 1936 to Claricy E. Gilliham (born July 23, 1917). No children.

Enoch George Williams and his second wife Gurtrude Elizabeth Chism had four children:

  1. Mary Burrough Williams (born 1875; died November 23, 1964 in Detroit, Michigan). Married to Samuel A. Hawley (died June 1, 1917). Mary and Samuel were buried in Caney Fork Cem., Etoile, Barren CO, Kentucky. One child: Mary Frances Hawley.
